Welcome to the Veige Research Group
At the heart of the Veige Group is a conviction that ligand design dictates reactivity. Our group combines synthetic organometallic chemistry, mechanistic and computational analysis, and catalyst development to create transition-metal complexes that perform transformations beyond the reach of conventional systems. We have developed highly active catalysts for the polymerization of alkenes and alkynes to give cyclic polyenes, offering an efficient route to polymer topologies that are challenging to access by traditional synthetic methods. Research in the Veige Group has also established inorganic click chemistry (iClick) as a new strategy for assembling metal-containing molecules and materials, using triazolate-bridged bimetallic units that serve as versatile building blocks for metallopolymers, conjugated oligomers, and interfacial framework materials.
